How to Extend the Service Life of Electric Heating Tubes through Daily Maintenance



1. The heating part of the electric heating tube should be fully immersed in the heating medium to avoid heat dissipation not being fast enough and exceeding the allowable heating temperature, which could damage the tube. In addition, the wiring lead-out part should be exposed outside the insulation layer of the heater or outside the heater itself, so that this part does not overheat and get damaged.



2. The input power supply voltage should not exceed 10% of the rated voltage indicated on various electric heating tubes. If applied below the rated voltage, the heat generated by the tube will correspondingly decrease.



3. When wiring the terminals of the electric heating tube, use two nuts to fasten them relatively tightly, but do not use excessive force to avoid loosening the lead-out screws and damaging the tube.



4. The terminals of the electric heating tube should be kept clean and dry; otherwise, the insulation performance will be reduced, leading to short circuits and breakdown. If used in environments with chemical corrosion, flammable, explosive liquids or gases, the wiring part of the tube should be protected with an insulating sealing device to prevent accidents.



5. When heating certain adhesive substances such as sodium nitrate, stearic acid, paraffin wax, etc., the power supply voltage should be reduced at the beginning of heating to lower the heat output of the tube. Only after the substance is completely melted into a liquid should the voltage be raised to the rated level for heating.



6. When selecting an electric heating tube, special attention should be paid to the heating medium. It should not have a corrosive effect on the material of the tube shell.



7. If the electric heating tube has been used for a long time and thick scale or oil deposits accumulate on the surface, they should be removed regularly; otherwise, the heat transfer performance of the tube will decrease, causing the surface heat load to exceed the rated allowance and damage the tube.



8. Electric heating tubes should be stored in a dry warehouse. If they have been stored for a long time and the surface is damp, use a megohmmeter to measure the insulation resistance before use. If it is less than 1 megohm/500 volts, the tube should be dried in a drying oven at 200 degrees Celsius.



9. Special electric heating tubes should be read carefully for relevant instructions before installation and use to avoid damage.
