IV. Definition of Terms
1. Closing/Opening time:
The time interval from the instant the closing (opening) command is received to the instant when all pole contacts touch (separate).
2. Closing/Opening simultaneity:
The maximum time difference between the instants of contact touching (separating) among the breaks.
3. Bounce time:
During the closing (opening) operation of the switch, the time from the first contact (separation) of the moving and stationary contacts to the final stable contact (separation).
4. Operating time: (Contact action time)
The time from the instant the closing (opening) command is received to the instant the contacts just start to move.
5. Bounce count:
The number of times the moving and stationary contacts separate (close) during the opening (closing) operation of the switch.
6. Bounce amplitude:
The maximum rebound value of the moving contact during its movement.
7. Stroke:
The distance from the initial position of the moving contact to any position during opening and closing operations.
8. Open gap:
The total gap between the contacts of one pole of the switch or any connected conductive parts when in the open position.
9. Over-travel:
The distance the moving contact continues to move after the contacts touch during closing operation.
10. Excess travel:
The difference between the maximum stroke during the movement of the moving contact and the stroke after stabilization during opening and closing operations.
11. Just closing (opening) speed:
The speed of the moving contact at the instant of touching (separating) with the stationary contact during closing (opening) operation.
12. Average speed: The ratio of the stroke to the time during the entire movement of the moving contact in the closing (opening) operation.
13. Arcing time (metal short-circuit time):
In a close-open operation, the time interval from the instant when all pole contacts touch to the instant when the arcing contacts of all poles separate in the subsequent opening operation.

VI. Connection of Break Contacts
6.1 Connection of break contacts
This instrument can measure the mechanical characteristic parameters of six breaks simultaneously.
(1) Single-break wiring
Connect one end of the switch (three contacts) correspondingly to the a, b, c break signal input terminals of the instrument, and the other end arbitrarily to the common terminal (break signal input) of the instrument (Figure 2)
(2) Double-break wiring
Connect one end of the switch (six contacts) correspondingly to the a-c' break signal input terminals of the instrument, and the other end arbitrarily to the common terminal (break signal input) of the instrument (Figure 3)
