High Voltage Insulation Resistance Tester, English name: High Voltage Insulation Resistance Tester. This instrument is suitable for measuring the insulation resistance of various transformers, motors, cables, switches, electrical equipment and insulating materials.
The High Voltage Insulation Resistance Tester is commonly known as a megohmmeter, or also called a megger, high resistance meter, insulation resistance tester, etc. The insulation resistance meter is a testing instrument widely used in power stations and electrical equipment for insulation resistance measurement. It is of great significance for ensuring product quality and the safety of personnel and equipment during operation. The insulation performance of electrical products is one of the important indicators to evaluate their insulation quality, which is reflected through insulation resistance.
Purpose of Testing
By testing the insulation resistance of different components in the system (transformers, switchgear, wires, motors), technicians can isolate and repair faulty components.
Technicians use testing to verify high insulation resistance between wires and ground or adjacent wires. Two common examples are testing the insulation between motor windings and the motor base, and checking the resistance between phase conductors and ground wires/enclosures.
Before energizing a system, using insulation testing to verify its integrity can improve system performance; insulation testing can detect manufacturing process issues and equipment defects that are generally not discovered before equipment failure. In the EU, this test is mandatory, even for the smallest residential systems.
1. Rotate the range switch to any voltage position, and the power is turned on.
2. In the test number selection state, press the setup key (12) to enter the test result query state.
3. Press the up/down keys (12) to increase or decrease the test result number (the corresponding number is highlighted).
4. After selecting the number, press the test key (10) to enter the test result for that number. Press the up/down keys (12) to query the test result (current resistance, 15-second resistance, 60-second resistance, 10-minute resistance, absorption ratio, polarization index).
5. After querying, press the setup key (12) to return to the ready-to-test state.
6. If you need to query again, press the setup key (12) again.
Hazards
Never measure circuits with AC/DC voltage above 600V.
Do not test in flammable areas; activation may cause an explosion.
Do not operate the instrument if the surface is wet or if your hands are wet.
When measuring, do not touch the conductive parts of the test leads.
Do not press the TEST key when the test leads are short-circuited and connected to the instrument.
Do not open the battery cover during measurement.
Do not touch the circuit under test during insulation measurement.
Precautions
Before measuring resistance, the circuit under test must be fully discharged and completely isolated from the power circuit.
If the test leads or power adapter are damaged and need replacement, replace them with the same model and identical electrical specifications.
Do not use the instrument when the battery indicator shows the battery is depleted. If the instrument is not used for a long time, remove the battery and store it.
Do not store or use the instrument in environments with high temperature, high humidity, flammable, explosive, or strong electromagnetic fields.
Use a damp cloth or cleaner to clean the instrument housing; do not use abrasives or solvents.
If the instrument is damp, dry it before storage.
