Instructions for Using the Arrester Varistor Tester
4.1 Using the "Automatic" position to test varistors
4.1.1 Turn on the power, set the "Test Selection" key on the panel to the "Varistor" position; set the "U0.75 Selection" key to the "Automatic" position, and set the "Display Switch" on the panel to the "Voltage" position.
4.1.2 Connect the varistor under test to the "+" and "-" terminals of the "Test Hole" using test leads, then lightly press the high-voltage "Start" key. The instrument will display the initial action voltage U1mA value. Then press and hold the "Leakage Current" key, and the instrument will display the 0.75U1mA voltage value. If you also set the "Display Switch" on the panel to the "Current" position, the instrument will display the I 0.75U,1mA value. Release the "Leakage Current" key, and the instrument will display the current flowing through the varistor under test, approximately 1mA.
4.1.3 Lightly press the high-voltage "Stop" key and then remove the varistor under test.
4.2 Using the "Manual" position to test varistors
4.2.1 Set the "Test Selection" key to the "Varistor" position; set the "U0.75 Selection" key to the "Manual" position; set the "Display Switch" to the "Voltage" position. Turn on the power and high voltage, then adjust the "High Voltage Preset" knob to set the preset high voltage value to more than 1.2 times the nominal value of the varistor to be tested. Turn off the high voltage; connect the varistor under test. At this point, by starting and stopping the high voltage, you can perform continuous testing of the U1mA single indicator for multiple similar varistors.
4.2.2 Based on the measured U1mA value of the varistor, calculate the 0.75U1mA value. Adjust the preset voltage of the instrument to this value, then set the "Display Switch" to the "Current" position. Without turning off the high voltage, press and hold the "Leakage Current" key, and connect varistors with the same U1mA value for continuous testing of the I 0.75U,1mA single indicator.
4.3 Discharge tube testing
4.3.1 Set the "Test Selection" key to the "Discharge Tube" position; set the "U0.75 Selection" key to the "Manual" position; turn on the power and high voltage.
4.3.2 Adjust the "High Voltage Preset" knob so that the preset voltage value displayed on the instrument is lower than the nominal value of the discharge tube under test by 100V or more, down to the starting position (approximately 15V).
4.3.3 Connect the discharge tube under test to the "+" and "-" terminals of the "Test Hole" using measurement leads. Lightly press the "Boost" key. When the green "Discharge" indicator lights up, the stable value displayed on the instrument is the ignition voltage value of the discharge tube.
For continuous testing, wait until the preset voltage display value stabilizes before pressing the "Boost" key.
4.4 Other functions
4.4.1 Self-check function: During varistor testing, switching the "Display Switch" can check the correctness of the instrument's test condition technical parameters.
4.4.2 Set the "U0.75 Selection" key to the "Manual" position, adjust the "High Voltage Preset" knob to slowly increase the preset voltage. When testing varistors, switching the "Display Switch" can provide the V/A characteristic curve of the varistor. For testing the ignition voltage of discharge tubes, comparing the test value at 100V/s with the ignition value obtained by slowly increasing the preset voltage can basically determine its characteristics.

6. LYFC-V Precautions
When testing varistors in the "Automatic" position, avoid starting the high voltage with an open circuit to prevent damage to the instrument.
During testing, do not touch metal parts to avoid high-voltage electric shock.
The instrument should be protected from moisture, rain, direct sunlight, and drops.
